The main features of Zigbee technology include the following parts

* Low data transmission rate: only 10kbytes/second to 250kbytes/second, focusing on low transmission applications;

DC-DC isolation type

* Low power consumption: In low power consumption standby mode, two ordinary AAA dry batteries can be used for 6 months to 2 years, eliminating the trouble of charging or frequent battery replacement. This is also the unique advantage that Zigbee supporters have always been proud of;

* Low cost: Because of the low data transmission rate and simple protocol of Zigbee, the cost is greatly reduced. And the Zigbee protocol is free of patent fees.

* Large network capacity: each Zigbee network can support up to 255 devices, that is, each Zigbee device can be connected to another 254 devices;

* Short delay: usually the delay is between 15 milliseconds and 30 milliseconds;

* Security: Zigbee provides data integrity check and authentication functions, the encryption algorithm uses AES-128, and its security attributes can be flexibly determined;

* Small effective range: The effective coverage range is between 10 and 75 meters, depending on the actual transmission power and various application modes, and can basically cover ordinary home or office environments;

* Flexible working frequency bands: The frequency bands used are 2.4GHz, 868MHz (Europe) and 915MHz (USA), all of which are license-free frequency bands.

As research progresses further, sensors will become smaller and more functional. Eventually, they may shrink to the size of a dust mote. At that point, thousands of tiny sensors, or "smart dust," will be released into the atmosphere to detect just about anything.
