As a small-range wireless connection technology, Bluetooth has the characteristics of low power consumption, low cost, convenience and speed. It is widely used in wireless headsets, smart watches, wireless remote controls and other scenarios. It is one of the mainstream technologies for realizing wireless communication.
Short Range Wireless Communication Technology
Since the birth of the first Bluetooth version in 1999, Bluetooth technology has developed for more than 20 years. From Bluetooth 1.0 to Bluetooth 5.3, what functions have been upgraded by the constantly updated Bluetooth protocol?
Bluetooth 1.0
The transmission rate is 748~810kpbs, simplex transmission, communication is susceptible to interference, and it is difficult to distinguish between primary and secondary devices.
Bluetooth 1.1
The transmission rate is 748~810kpbs. It can only work in simplex transmission mode and is easily affected by communication interference from products with the same frequency. It can distinguish primary and secondary devices. This version supports the transmission requirements of Stereo sound effects, but the bandwidth, frequency, response time and other parameters do not meet the requirements, and it is not considered the best protocol for Stereo transmission.
Bluetooth 1.2
The transmission rate has not changed. Based on Bluetooth version 1.1, an anti-interference frequency hopping function has been added to support single-channel playback, but the performance is still not ideal.
Bluetooth 2.0
Bluetooth 2.0 is an optimized and improved version of 1.2, and the transmission rate can reach about 2Mpbs. This version of the Bluetooth module can achieve full-duplex working mode, and can transmit voice information while transmitting files for real-time two-way communication. The power consumption is relatively reduced, and stereo sound is supported.
Bluetooth 2.1
This version of the Bluetooth module has pairing and near field communication NFC (Near Field CoMMunication) mechanisms between mobile phones.
Sniff Subrating function: You can set the confirmation data sending interval between two devices. When we extend this time interval, the power consumption of the Bluetooth chip can be reduced.
This version of the Bluetooth protocol supports full-duplex communication mode, and data can achieve real-time two-way interaction.
Bluetooth 3.0
Using a new protocol, the transmission rate can reach 24Mbps. The transmission rate is greatly improved based on Bluetooth 2.0 and supports video transmission.
The main features of the first three generations of Bluetooth technology standards, namely 1.x, 2.x, and 3.0, are wireless high-speed data transmission between devices, short distances, and high power consumption. The main application is: establishing a one-to-one device connection with a point-to-point network topology to transmit audio, video, files, etc. Generally, mobile devices such as mobile phones, computers, and tablets are used as central devices, and wireless headsets, wireless speakers, mice, keyboards, printers, etc. are used as peripheral devices. Due to the high power consumption, devices are limited to rechargeable battery devices with a certain capacity.
